One\u00a0step\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0end\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0season\u00a0the\u00a0Brazilian\u00a0has38 points\u00a0advantage\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0classification<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FIA F3 season is coming to an end, one of themain categories of access to Formula 1. The series, which has its races on the same weekends of themain category of world motorsport, lives in 2023 a year of great competitiveness and great prominencefor Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making his debut year Gabriel Bortoleto, from S\u00e3o Paulo, leads the standings since the first weekend, held in March in Bahrain. Having his career managedby Fernando Alonso (Two-time Formula 1 World Champion) the young man, currently 18 years old, built a winning career since the karting competitions. On his way to Formula One he moved to Europe atthe age of 12 and, from then on, takes part in major world competitions having already passed, in single-seaters, by Italian Formula 4 (2020), FRECA (2021 and 2022) and FIA F3 (2023). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bortoleto, who has the technical support of ItalianTrident, is part of the talent development program ofthe Brazilian team KTF Sports and opened, in 2020, the team\u2019s performance in single seaters \u2013 since theteam already had operations in Stock Car, Stock Series and Karting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEASON<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very consistently Gabriel managed to win the twoFeature races at the beginning of the season held atBahrain and then Australia. From then on, with greatintelligence, the driver continued adding many points in the other stages. Even though he did not winagain, Bortoleto built, step by step, a difference thatcame to be 46 points for the second place. Currently, with only one stage to go before the Championship, Bortoleto\u2019s difference to second place is 38 points and, in a competition weekend, the maximum score distributed is 40 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last round of the year will be held at theAutodrome de Monza, in Italy, between September 1 and 3. It should be noted that since Luiz Felipe Nasrin 2011 \u2013 British F3, Brazil does not have a championdriver in an international F3 series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TITLE WAS CLOSE IN THE PENULTIMATE ROUND <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between 28 and 30 July, the Spa-Francochampscircuit in Belgium hosted the penultimate doubleround of the FIA F3 season. Bortoleto, whomathematically had chances to secure the title with a round in advance, had a problem in the qualifyingsession that took away his chances to fight for thefirst positions. In qualifying, after being the fastestwith the first set of tires on a wet track that driedback-to-back, he risked everything on his secondattempt. Very fast, he came with partial times thatwould earn him a place in the top three, but endedup being hindered by a slower car and losing time, qualifying only in 15th place for both Saturday andSunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, after a good start, Bortoleto came in good recovery and was already in eighth place when, in one touch, had the right rear tire flat and wasforced to abandon. On Sunday, in a race that startedwith wet track and was drying out, Gabriel startedwith slicks tires and fell to 21st in the first few laps. After that, with a lot of boldness and technique, thedriver made a second half of the race to shiver andwon 10 positions, receiving the chequered flag in 11th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI can\u2019t say that I\u2019m super happy since, really, we hadclear chances to get out of here champions. However, given the situations that unfolded after thequalifying, we did our best. The car was very fast and, certainly, if I had managed to start furtherahead, we would have a chance to achieve muchmore expressive results. We go to Monza with full force and, with the grace of God, I will bring thisachievement to Brazil\u201d, commented the driver sponsored by Ebury, Banco BRB,  Americanet e KTF Sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
