F1 World Championship reaches mid-season in England

This weekend, the Formula 1 World Championship arrives at the birthplace of the sport. At the iconic Silverstone Circuit in England, the 20 top drivers in the world will hit the track for the 12th round of the 2025 season.

Fresh off his best result of the year—an eighth-place finish at the Red Bull Ring last weekend—Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto has already arrived in England. Pleased with the upgrades introduced to his car in the previous race, the Stake F1 Team | Kick Sauber driver believes he can keep progressing on the Towcester circuit.

“Scoring my first points last weekend was incredible – a result the team and I have been working hard for since the start of the season. But this is just the beginning. Now the focus shifts to Silverstone, and we want to finish this double-header the way we started. We have to keep our heads up, continue working and improving. We are also bringing some new parts, which I am excited to get used to. It is all about small steps… that is how we will grow and stay in the midfield fight,” said the 20-year-old, who is sponsored by Banco BRB, KitKat, Porto, and Motorola by Snapdragon.

Formula 1 was born in England, and to this day, most teams on the grid are based in the country. The Silverstone round is considered a home race celebration and draws over 300,000 fans throughout the weekend. This year, expectations are especially high as the World Championship celebrates the 75th anniversary of the sport’s creation.

Silverstone Circuit was inaugurated in 1947 and hosted its first F1 Grand Prix in 1950. After several renovations and layout changes, the current track measures 5.891 km and the race will consist of 52 laps, totaling 306.2 km. Known for its high-speed nature, the circuit features 18 corners and three DRS zones. The current lap record belongs to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with a time of 1m27.097s set during the 2020 race.

Official track activities begin on Friday with two free practice sessions. Saturday will feature the final practice and qualifying, and the Grand Prix itself takes place on Sunday. In Brazil, the practice sessions will be broadcast on Band Sports, while qualifying and the race will air on Band.
