Gabriel Bortoleto led F3 FIA tests in Spain

With Trident team, Brazilian was the fastest in his first contact in the series

The Autódromo de Jerez de La Frontera in Spain, a stronghold of training in the main categories of world motorsport, received this week the official post-season tests of the FIA F3. Making his debut in the fast cars of the series, the Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, showed all his potential and, after six sessions, ended his participation as the fastest among the 30 drivers who participated in the activities.

Coming from a season of great consistency, podiums and victory in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine – FRECA the young 17-year-old from São Paulo arrived very excited for this, which may be the next step of his career. With the technical support of the Italian team Trident the driver, who is part of the development program of KTF Sports, completed more than 250 laps on the track in southern Spain, adapted exceptionally to the equipment and to the team’s work system.

The FIA F3 Championship car is one of the most modern formula models on the planet. Built by the renowned Dallara the chassis meets the most rigorous safety and aerodynamic tests. In the motorization part the set is equipped with a Renault / Mecachrome, aspirated, 6 cylinders, 380 horsepower and can reach 300 km/h. For this week’s tests, which were held between the days 21 (Wednesday) and 23 (Friday), were presented more than 30 competitors among rookies, such as Bortoleto, and veterans in the category.

“I am very excited about the tests we conducted here in Spain this week. I adapted super-fast to the new car, which in addition to the great power gain, has more downforce and more adherent tires. The driving style is very different and this, for sure, was my biggest challenge in these three days. On the second day of training, I managed to fit a very good lap with the new tires and ended up being the fastest lap of the three days of testing. I was impressed with the reliability that the car gives us and the more you believe, the faster you can get around the corners. I still have a lot to learn in the next tests, especially with regard to confidence in the car’s grip. Other than that, I have to learn a lot also about the degradation of tires and how to use it to my advantage during the rounds,” explained Gabriel.

BACK TO THE NORMAL SCHEDULE

After the lessons and the natural euphoria of the first tests in the FIA F3 car Gabriel now turns his attention to the final stages of the FRECA championship. The competition in which he regularly raced in the 2022 season resumes it’s schedule for the last two rounds next month. The Barcelona track will host the two races of the ninth round between 14 and 16 October and the following week between 21 and 23 October the competition will be closed at the challenging Mugello racetrack in Italy.
