Gabriel Bortoleto in Monaco for the 5th Round of F2

After a positive weekend in Imola, the Brazilian driver aims to continue his recovery in the Championship.

Just three days after celebrating his first podium in the F2 World Championship, Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto is already in Monaco. On the most famous streets of motorsport, the driver will face the challenges of the fifth round of the competition from Thursday (23rd) to Sunday (26th).

Coming off his best performance of the year, Bortoleto is very confident in achieving a good result in Monaco. Following his second-place finish in last Sunday’s race in Imola, and having scored 23 points over the weekend, he believes he can continue his recovery in the Championship, which has 14 rounds scheduled. It is worth noting that Gabriel arrived in Imola in 13th place in the Championship and left the track in fifth.

Monaco certainly features one of the most renowned and challenging tracks of the season. Due to its narrow track characteristics and several low-speed points, qualifying well for the Monaco races generally indicates a lot about the drivers’ finishing positions. The Monte Carlo circuit, which is 3,337 meters long, has 19 corners and three full-throttle sections. The track, which made Brazilian idol Ayrton Senna famous in Formula 1, has the F2 lap record held by Charles Leclerc, who completed a lap in 1m19s309 in 2017. In 2024, the Sprint Race, scheduled for Saturday, will have 30 laps, and the Feature Race on Sunday will have 42 laps.

“I am quite confident that we will do a good job here in Monaco. Our car has already proven to be very fast and reliable on different types of circuits, and I am sure it will be no different here. I dedicated a lot of time to simulator preparation, and by Sunday night, I had already shifted my focus to here. It’s no secret that the main goal here is to achieve the best possible qualifying position. Overtaking in the races is nearly impossible, so all energy must be put into getting a good qualifying result, which almost always determines the finishing position. Together with my engineers, we will seek a good setup and put all our efforts into the qualifying session. Unlike other tracks, we will have ample time to study the car’s reactions after practice. Here in Monte Carlo, we only have one activity per day: practice on Thursday, qualifying on Friday, sprint race on Saturday, and feature race on Sunday,” explained the driver sponsored by McLaren, Banco BRB, Porto, Ebury, Snapdragon, and Barthelemy.

The entire weekend schedule will be broadcasted on the subscription channel, BandSports.
