The Brazilian extended his lead in the Championship standings and is now 43 points ahead of the second-place driver
The eighth round of the FIA F3 Championship concluded on Sunday, the 23rd. The competition took place at the Hungaroring Circuit in Budapest, Hungary. Leading the Championship since the first round, Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto once again demonstrated his determination and consistency, earning an additional 16 points in the standings and increasing his advantage to 43 points over the second-place driver.
In the first race of the weekend, held on Saturday morning, Gabriel started from the fourth position and, with great determination, executed two impressive overtaking maneuvers to finish in second place.
On Sunday, starting from the eighth position, Gabriel and his team of engineers carefully studied the best strategy to accumulate as many points as possible.
After a strong start, Bortoleto maintained his position in eight place and, with caution, proceeded with his race. Driving without mistakes and with great confidence on the track, the Brazilian managed to preserve his tires and, in the final laps, with a good pace, patiently chose the right moment to overtake his teammate, Leonardo Fornaroli, finishing in seventh place.
With the result of Sunday’s race, Bortoleto collected 16 points in the Hungarian round and extended his Championship lead to 144 points, compared to Zak O’Sullivan’s 101 points and Josep Maria Marti’s 100 points.
The next FIA F3 race will take place next weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, where Bortoleto will have the opportunity to clinch the season title – one round ahead.
“I’m happy with what we achieved this weekend. We started from a difficult free practice session, and in the qualifying, I was hindered and could not extract the best from our car. However, during the races, I was able to execute our strategy and secure a second and seventh-place finish, further extending my lead in the Championship. Next week, we already have the penultimate round of the year, and with calmness and hard work, we’ll pursue two more great results,” commented the 18-year-old driver.
